Geomorphology

In front of a vivid yellow and orange sky and atop a barren, brown, rocky landscape a massive grey hand emerges from the left, occupying the upper left quadrant, its palm open and facing the right. A headless marble statue rests on the brown rocks in front of the hand. Above the statue, in the top right corner is a poem: Undulating waves of granite,
 frozen in place,
 cracked by time,
 gouged by wind and water.
 Temperatures and vegetation
 probe and pry,
 slowly ripping asunder
 and rendering flat, smooth,
what once was steep and rough.
